It’s not often that I venture outside without my camera slung around my shoulders. Even when there really isn’t space in my bag, I’ll squish it in somehow because I am slightly addicted to exploring the world by peering through a viewfinder.
Years ago, back in the Stone Age before digital cameras, I did an A-level in photography, which just encouraged my fascination. I gave myself leg strain by spending 8 hours each day standing in the dark room, captivated by the images slowly appearing out of the red gloom.
Taking pictures helps me to see the beauty in everyday ordinariness... I feel connected to life by spending my time examining it in detail.
Where necessary, I often provide photographs to accompany the features that I write and occasionally I do portrait work for friends. Should you want to see more of my images, I usually put my current photos up on the blog.
